Salt was first mined in Ukraine in the twelfth century. At least from the fifteenth to the nineteenth century, Chumaks, merchants who transported goods by ox carts, transported salt from the South to other parts of Ukraine. They created a unique culture - just think of the Chumak songs or icons painted on flounder! And even the Milky Way Galaxy is more commonly called the Chumak Way in Ukraine, because it looks like salt spilling out of the carts. Salt is used in the chemical and food industries, and for municipal purposes - to sprinkle on sidewalks in winter. Moreover, salt mines and open-pit mining in water bodies are an attractive attraction for tourists. The distinctive blue packaging of Artemsil, one of the world's largest salt producers, is now printed on T-shirts, sneakers, and socks. This is a sign of solidarity with the city of Soledar, which is under Russian occupation, as, unfortunately, are most sea salt production locations.
Sofiyivka Park is an arboretum and a scientific-researching institute located in the northern part of the City of Uman and was founded in 1796. The park is one of the important historical and natural places of Ukraine. And big part of my childhood memories.
It accounts for over 3300 types of trees and brush and 150,000 visitors annually.
